When did you first become interested in graphic design?

Believe it or not, when I was 12. I have always been interested in visual production and art based mediums. I’ve also always loved trying to hack into things!

What do you enjoy the most about being a graphic designer?

Giving. I enjoy seeing the satisfaction from a customer once they’ve received something they love which transforms their business.

What is an especially challenging part of your job?

Pressure to get the creative cogs working in a small amount of time!

Describe your creative process. What are the major steps in designing something from scratch?

Firstly it’s important to understand the client’s needs, following up with the correct analysis and research before putting pen to paper!

Who’s work do you admire? Who are your design heroes?

Without a doubt, David Carson, dubbed the ‘Godfather of Grunge’. I’ve always loved the abnormality of his designs and I based a lot of my early creative work on his very experimental design.

How do you stay inspired?

Other than reading blogs and articles, I stay up to date with new technologies and practices.

What is the number one reason that a business should hire a professional graphic designer?

Great creatives are hard to come by. A graphic designer with a shed load of experience and a fresh eye on your business from a neutral perspective is always going to achieve greatness.

What skills do you think a good graphic designer should have?

A realistic understanding of the outcome of the project. The ability to pay attention to aesthetics that encourage a guided user experience.
